Did you notice..?

New birds have arrive in the garden.

They may have traversed thousands of miles,

or simply hopped a few fences.

One sits on the windowsill,

both looking in

and out.

It’s friend, a little way off,

laughs riotously.

It sounds like singing, of course,

but the quality of laughter is unmistakable.

Perhaps there’s more to be delighted with than first meets the eye?
