How true, and curious. Not only humans, but also our animal/bird friends. Yesterday, I went into the backyard to collect the laundry. I have many magical creatures in our backyard - all of whom are precious to me. Birds, blue-tongue lizards, all sorts. As I collected the laundry, I heard a shuffling, fluttering noise behind me. I noticed one of our native birds fluttering in the fern bush. I spoke to him as I always do, but then noticed he was caught by a thread of some sort around his tiny ankle that was causing him to be trapped in the potted plant. In trying to free himself from the tree, he was causing himself more harm, tornequeting himself around a branch. He was in distress, so I immediately attempted to help him. I could see the look of fear and pain in his beautiful eyes. With his constant swirling and turning, he had well and truly tied himself to the branch he could not escape from. I quickly grabbed a small towel, gloves and shears to try and set him free. I kept talking to him and gently placed the towel over him to try and calm him. I had a feeling he knew I was trying to help him. I did my best to cut away the thread and the branches that had him attached in fear. I was upset and a little fearful myself, looking into his eyes. I finally managed to cut him away from the bush and free him somewhat from the cutting bind that wrapped around his tiny ankle. I lightly released him to the ground, where he lay on his back and looked up at me in quiet despair, but now, finally, relief. He stared at me for a short time and then bounced back onto his feet. His wings were not harmed, but his ankle was. I did my best to soothe his pain, as he jumped up and took off into the sky. A relief that he was able to fly away. I hope he's ok. I hope his little wound will heal. I hope I look upward into the universe and see him fly over again. Better still, I hope he comes to visit. It felt so good to be able to help and free this little wild bird. It felt so good for him to look back at me as if to say, thank you. We are all connected, feel and understand love in our Universe. Even without words. What a blessing. D.🪶
