In my experience, accepting ourselves completely means (1) admitting we are flawed, (2) recognizing that our ego - our idea of ourselves - often contributes to those flaws, (3) learning to find our true self apart from our ego. The true self is in the heart, the ego is in the mind. I’m simplifying things greatly, but I wish you the best on your journey.
Contemplation and meditation helped me to find my true self and recognize when my ego is trying to control me. That made all the difference - I accept myself exactly as I am today, while realizing that tomorrow I can try to embody more of my true self, as created in the divine image.
